Bring the skill and experience of a former criminal District Judge and prosecutor to your case.
As a defense attorney, former felony prosecutor, and former Texas District Judge, I have committed my professional career to criminal law in the courtroom. I have tried hundreds of complex felony cases to a judge or jury; I know that hard work and experience is the only path to superior trial skills.
I am a sixth generation Texan, and my family has called Texas home for more than 150 years. I was born on the South Plains in Lubbock. When I was young, my father became a judge. He instilled in me a love of the law and the drive to work hard in everything I do. West Texans are no strangers to a strong work ethic, and that value has guided my career as a courtroom attorney and felony District Judge.
In 2012, I was appointed by Texas Governor Rick Perry to a State Board charged with providing counsel and expertise to the Governor on criminal justice issues. Later, in 2019, Texas Governor Greg Abbott appointed me to the 460th District Court. In that role, I had the opportunity to preside over jury trials, rule on evidentiary issues and see how criminal courtrooms work from a judge’s perspective, adding to the criminal legal experience I am able to leverage for my clients.
Since concluding my service as a felony District Judge, my wife, Afton, and I had a strong desire to raise our 3 kids in my hometown. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of providing outstanding counsel and results to citizens accused here in the Lubbock and South Plains area.
When I’m not in a courtroom fighting for clients, I enjoy coaching baseball and working, fishing and hunting on our family ranch near Hamilton, Texas.
